Practice Levels
Below are our current expectations for each of our practice levels. For new swimmers, we utilize tryouts to assess which level is the best fit. For current team members, coaches discuss readiness to "level up" with swimmers as appropriate.
Development (10U and 13U) – 45 min 2x/wk
- 50 free, 25 back, legal BR kick, dolphin kick
- Learn: open turns, dive from side, legal BR, legal FL, BA finish/stroke count
Bronze – 55 mins, 2x/wk, all ages
- 100 free, 25 legal each stroke
- Learn: flip turns, dive from block, intro to clock send offs, BA pushoff
Junior Silver – 70 min 3x/wk
- 200 free, legal 100 IM, 1x100 meterFR under 2:00, flip turn and back turn, dive from block, interest in competition
- Learn: reading clock, BA flip turns, basic IM transition turns, BA start from wall
Junior Gold – 85 min 3-5x/wk
- 300 free, 200 meter IM under 4:00, 1x100 meter FR under 1:30, consistent participation in competitions
- USA Swimming participation encouraged
- Learn: race strategy, BA start from block, IM transition turns
Senior Silver/High School Conditioning (9th grade+) – 90 min 2 evenings/wk plus dryland/morning options
- 200 free, 25 of each legal stroke, all skill levels
- Learn: prep for participation in HS swimming
Senior Gold (9th grade+) - 90 min 3-5 evenings/wk plus dryland/morningoptions
- 400 free, 200 meter IM under 3:45, 1x100 FR meter under 1:30, consistent participation in competitions, Y member
- USA Swimming participation encouraged
- Swimmers expected to model the four Y core values and volunteer for the team/aquatics department throughout the year.
Platinum Elite (all ages) - 90-120 min 5x/wk plus dryland/morning/weekend options
- 200 meter IM under 3:10, 6x100 meterFR on 1:30, USA Swimming meet participation, Y member
- Swimmers expected to model the four Y core values and volunteer for the team/aquatics department throughout the year.
